*** Success Story of Cross-Border Training ***

Five young men from Germany completed their vocational training as cutting machine operators according to German law in a Dutch company. They successfully completed their training (with the German skilled worker certificate after passing the examination before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Aachen) and received a permanent contract as skilled workers with the training company, GDO in Eygelshoven, after the training!EURES of the Employment Agency Aachen-Düren initiated the cross-border training project “Training in the Netherlands according to German law” in 2011 together with S-BB (responsible for training in the Netherlands) and IHK Aachen (responsible for training in Germany). During this project, more than fifty young people from Germany found a training place in a South Limburg company (mostly metal industry, but also gastronomy and dental practice). Many of them were taken on after training, with some still in training.

Regarding the photo:

Thanks to the cooperation of the aforementioned institutions, these five young men from Germany found a training position in 2011 and 2012, not in their home country Germany, but in the neighboring country (Netherlands, South Limburg), at the high-tech company GDO in Eygelshoven. From left in the foreground: Dennis Keilhauer, Sascha Hambloch, Maurice Dygutsch, Timo Bülles, and Nikolai Timothäus. In the background: Roger Kleijnen (together with his colleague Jos Smeets (not pictured)) trainer at GDO. Far right: Egon Vanwersch, EURES consultant and employment agent at the Employment Agency Aachen-Düren, supports employers based in the Netherlands and Belgium who wish to recruit employees from Germany (including trainees!).

By the way, Dennis Keilhauer and Timo Bülles were the very first trainees in this not only cross-border but also unique project, which exists in this form along the German-Dutch border only in our region!. All five young men have meanwhile successfully completed their training and obtained the skilled worker certificate as cutting machine operators. We are particularly pleased that all five men received a permanent contract with GDO after their training! Also for the new training year 2018/2019, EURES of the Employment Agency Aachen-Düren is looking again for young people in the Aachen-Düren-Heinsberg region for several South Limburg companies who would like to pursue training according to German law in the Netherlands.
