The Cross-Border Employment Service Point (SGA) Euregio Maas-Rhein, located in the Eurode Business Center (EBC) in Kerkrade/Herzogenrath, has proven itself as an indispensable partner in cross-border labor market initiatives with more than 600 placements in recent years. The cooperation partners within the SGA, therefore, sign a follow-up agreement on January 27 under the chairmanship of Mr. Wethouder Dion Schneider. Wethouder Dion Schneider (Labor Market): “The continuation after the end of the pilot project, the expansion of the Team Border Work, and now a follow-up agreement for 2021-2022 was not only logical but also necessary.”Follow-up agreementThe partners in this collaboration: UWV WERKbedrijf Zuid-Limburg, Federal Employment Agency Aachen-Düren / EURES, Werkgevers Service Point Parkstad, Podium 24 (Social Affairs Maastricht-Heuvelland), Werkgevers Service Point Westelijke Mijnstreek, Jobcenter Städteregion Aachen and the Gemeente Kerkrade as host organization, sign the SGA follow-up agreement 2021-2022. This is supported by the association MKB Parkstad Limburg.
To commemorate the signing of the SGA follow-up agreement 2021-2022, a film with the signing partners was made instead of a physical event. The quotes express the high level of commitment with which a secure and sustainable SGA is being built together.

Euregional labor marketIn a geographical border region like the Euregio Maas-Rhein, a transparent, cross-border labor market is a basic requirement for an attractive economic settlement climate with international appeal. Nevertheless, despite the close economic relationships between Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, the borders in the Euregio Maas-Rhein still pose an obstacle in many respects. Moreover, the structures, and all those involved, have often remained unchanged, focused on their own country for decades. As a result, the cross-border labor market is primarily comprised of independent “semicircles” focusing on their own hinterland, meaning jobs and facilities across the border, as well as labor force potentials, remain underutilized.
The integration of labor markets into a cross-border, euregional labor market is being promoted to achieve greater attractiveness. In addition, opportunities and career prospects for job seekers and border residents should be optimized, and the euregional business climate with an international focus should be improved.600 placementsOne of the basic requirements for a transparent and cross-border labor market is the existence of a sustainable information and consulting structure. This led to the founding of the Cross-Border Employment Mediation (SGA Kerkrade) in 2016. From July 2016 to December 2020, the SGA EMR team, Kerkrade-Herzogenrath, conducted more than 600 placements. This was done in close cooperation with the GrenzInfoPunkt. More than 600 times, people have found a job on the other side of the border through the efforts of this dedicated team. The number of people from the Netherlands working in Germany and vice versa is almost equal. A success story, even partly during the Corona period. Workers who regained a future perspective through the consideration of their competencies. Offering them opportunities while simultaneously answering all questions about cross-border working. Both for the employee and the employer.
