Opening Ceremony on September 6, 2016

On Tuesday, September 6, at the Eurode Business Center (EBC), the cross-border commercial building located half in German and half in Dutch territory, the Cross-border Employment Service was officially opened in a ceremonious event. In the newly established service, colleagues from the Dutch Employment Authority UWV Zuid-Limburg, the German Employment Agency Aachen-Düren, the Werkgeversservicepunt Parkstad Limburg, Podium 24, and the Gemeente Kerkrade will collaborate. The service of the new team is aimed, on one hand, at job-seeking people from the D-NL border region who are interested in a job in the respective neighboring country, and on the other hand, at employers in this region who wish to recruit personnel from the respective neighboring country. The special feature of this service is that job seekers not only receive placement proposals (job offers) but also advice and help with the application and/or diploma recognition process in the respective other country. Job seekers from Germany are thus registered with the UWV in Zuid-Limburg and receive a personal employment consultant there, and vice versa. In the consultations at the new service team, which take place exclusively by appointment, job seekers are supported and advised by employment consultants from both countries. The goal of the new service is to place people from the border region of the Euregio Maas-Rhein in jobs across borders or to fill positions of employers in the border region with workers from both countries.
